As a small brand or independent business it’s hard to get your voice heard in all the noise online.

You want to create a compelling brand story for your social media and website, and need the tools to write great copy and take beautiful photos.

You may not have the budget to bring in photographers or copywriters but you know your brand can fly with the right content.

In this practical, informative workshop, award-winning photographer Susan Bell and writer Lulah Ellender show you how to create content that engages your ideal customer and builds a strong brand identity.

You’ll learn how to tell your unique story, your way.

The workshop is ideal for craftspeople, small businesses and anyone needing to generate content.

 You’ll discover techniques and tools to write compelling, effective copy and photograph your work or brand for social media, blogs and your website.


What you’ll do

Susan will show you how to use a phone or DSLR to take your imagery to the next level. You’ll take part in a hands-on workshop that covers:

  • Analysing what images can do for you or your brand

  • Mood boards & shot lists

  • Establishing a workflow

  • How to use lighting to create your shots (and what to avoid)

  • Controlling your phone or camera - from f-stops and depth of field to tripods and shutter speed

  • Styling your shot - how to select backgrounds and props

  • The pro and cons of different camera angles

  • Reels and moving image

 

Lulah will focus on:

  • Creating sparkling website and social media content

  • Algorithms, what to post and how to post it

  • SEO and copywriting techniques that drive engagement

  • Different content channels including email newsletters, social media, website pages and blog posts

  • Developing key messages about product, services and brand, and tips on overcoming challenges

What’s next?

After you sign up we’ll look at your website or IG to get familiar with your work.

We’ll send you an email questionnaire to drill down into what you need from the workshop and what you see as your problem areas.

 You’ll be asked to bring:

- A couple of tear sheets or examples of branded content you like, or just a photo you find inspiring or that sums up your brand or work

- A camera or phone

- A notebook and pen, or laptop

- A product you make, if relevant (and can fit on a tabletop!)

 

Who are we?

 Susan Bell is a photographer with over 20 years’ professional experience producing films and creating stills for books and publications. She has been shortlisted for numerous awards and was a winner in the Pink Lady Food Photography Awards.

 Lulah Ellender has published three books and has over 7 years’ experience writing copy for multinational corporations like Credit Suisse, TalkTalk and Nivea, as well as independent start-ups driven by passionate people with a story to tell.
